Alexis Adams, Student Recruitment Coordinator and Step Team Coordinator, Loyola 08’
“The greatest thing about working with the step team would have to be the focus and determination I see in my students to be the best they can be. As the students come to show me what they have learned, I know that their internal motivation will drive them not just on my team, but in the classroom as well!”

Danielle DiMonda, Tulane 09'
"Working at Langston Hughes Academy has shown me the importance of investing time, energy, and resources into the New Orleans public school system. These children are full of life and big dreams that they all deserve to fulfill. My main project has been creating a library for upper school students and teachers. It thrills me to know that once I graduate, the library will still be there helping students to develop a love of reading and learning."
Tai Collins, Mentor, Loyola 08’
“The thing that I enjoy the most about working at Langston Hughes Academy are my mentees, Desmond and Gregory. They are really fun to work with and they enjoy our time together tremendously. While working with my mentee, I have confirmed that school psychology is the field that I want to go into. I’ve also re-learned how to do long division.”
Yolanda Ruffin-Williams, Mentor, Xavier 08’
“I wanted to become a mentor because I feel that the time to reach people is when they are children. Children are our future. My experience as a mentor at Langston Hughes has made me reflect upon and remember my childhood. I want to share with my mentees the things that have helped me become who I am today.”
